LUXOR C Automated Carbon Coater for SEM-EDS Analysis
Fully automated carbon coater for SEM chemical analysis, EDX, and EDS workflows with reproducible carbon coating, intuitive touch-screen control, outgassing capability, and an advanced upside-down design.
Product Overview
The system uses a Bradley-type carbon rod evaporation source in air to create a thin, uniform carbon layer on the sample surface. During operation, the chamber is evacuated to a sufficient vacuum level and a controlled current is applied to the carbon rods until they glow, causing carbon to evaporate and deposit onto the samples.
This coating process is fully automated. Once the samples are loaded, the operator simply selects the desired coating time or coating thickness and presses the start button. This reduces human error, minimizes training requirements, and makes the system especially useful in shared labs, high-throughput environments, and laboratories with rotating personnel.
The LUXOR C is designed as a stand-alone carbon coater to avoid cross-contamination from metal sputter coating. It also includes an additional high-vacuum mode for sample outgassing, making it a practical dual-function solution for electron microscopy sample preparation.
Its unique upside-down design places the target at the bottom and the samples in the lid at the top. This improves sample handling, supports safer operation, helps remove loose particles during coating, and contributes to more consistent and reliable results for both routine SEM imaging and SEM-EDS analysis.
